St Peter's Basilica
On this trip, in Rome, we will of course be visiting St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican. It is hard to describe what you'll see there, except that it is astounding and you will feel very small when inside. And this, of course, is the point. Cathedrals were designed to make mankind realize how small we are in comparison to God. And it is very effective smile emoticon
In these pictures, I am with my four children, and I was teaching them some of the remarkable facts about this enormous church. Inside you will see Michelangelo's Pieta', which translated means "pity". The marble looks so real, you can see the veins under their skin. Truly one of the world's most beautiful works of art!
(If you notice, we girls are wearing scarves on our shoulders...bare shoulders are not allowed inside)
